This new dwelling in Dwarskersbos, Western Cape, embraces the West Coast vernacular with its modest, three-bedroom design. The house features white plastered walls contrasting with a charcoal corrugated steel roof sheeting, creating a striking aesthetic against the blue sky. The pitched roof, a hallmark of the region, and a timber-poled verandah covered with lathes celebrate tradition and offer a connection to the surrounding fynbos landscape. The design maximizes interaction with nature, while the light-filled interior balances simplicity and functionality.
